As if anyone needed anymore help with the easiest date known to mankind …

Given the viral popularity of its associated meme, ‘Netflix and Chill’ can be a difficult date to arrange nowadays. The moment you suggest a simple movie and wordless hang session, your date automatically assumes one of you is about to dole out a round of shame-head on the other next to a bowl of buttery popcorn.

Thankfully for everyone, this whole process just became a whole lot easier, because some genius inventor created an actual ‘Netflix and Chill’ button

Unveiled at the 2015 World Maker Faire, the Netflix contraption is officially called "The Swtich." When a person hits the button, The Switch immediately dims the lights in your beige carpeted apartment and activates the "Do Not Disturb" feature on your phone and primes Netflix for streaming. Based on a report by the Mirror, certain variants of The Switch can even go ahead and order delivery. Oh wow … if it only it could summon a date who actually wants to watch "Space Balls."

Speaking of balls, this all sounds amazeballs right? Well … kind of.

See, it’s not the easiest to set up. To get the full experience, people need a smartphone and a few compatible devices such as internet-based "smart" lightbulbs for the dimming effect (who the fuck has “internet-based” lights?). Ostensibly, this is to further hinder the date’s ability to spot that mustard stain on the suitor’s sweat pants, or the fact that his apartment hasn’t been swept in months/years/ever. Everyone’s beautiful in the dark, maybe!

But don’t worry, there’s a video released by Netflix that shows step-by-step instructions on how to build the device at home.

The DIY button does call for some technical skills for full assembly. According to the Netflix website individuals “should be comfortable with a soldering iron and have a solid understanding of electronics and programming before embarking" on their projects at home. Therefore, most useless human beings should just quit while they’re ahead.

… Oh. So it’s an assembly-required thing. File under “IKEA: NEVER AGAIN.”

However in the case that you’re truly hellbent on Netflix and Chill and somehow acquired an engineering degree during your short lifespan, some old fashioned elbow grease and a little know-how should put you on the fast track to a sex-ambiance button in just a few short hours. If you start now you can have a Netflix and Chill button ready for the weekend! Time for pleasure!

This means millennials can watch rom-coms about dating the old fashioned way, while they impress that certain someone with their uncanny ability to never leave the couch or put on real clothes.

Modern romance in a button.
