Favorite condiment:
I'm not picky with food. I usually don't add anything unless it’s hot sauce. In that event: sriracha or Cholula

Your work includes a lot of pop culture references. What's your favorite cartoon?
I actually hate sitting down and watching TV, but if I had to choose, I'd say anything created by Mike Judge.

Where does your inspiration come from?
Self-help books, 808s, weed, females, skateboarding, advertising and females.

You include a lot of eye-popping colors in your pieces. Would you say you are naturally drawn to bright colors and if so, why?
I am for sure attracted toward certain brighter colors, I think everyone is though. Probably because the rest of the world is so immaculately jaded.

What’s the origin of your artist name "Crusteez"?
My real name is Heath. Crusteez refers to the little eye boogers that you wake up with every morning.

What's your favorite project so far?
I love staying busy and investing my time. I consider my life one huge project. I've had this burning desire to create something cool since I was a kid and now I get to do that every single day.

So whether I'm painting on a canvas, building a website or eagerly listening to podcasts, I try to structure my time so that everything I do has a purpose and is directly applicable to my life project.

Name one thing you wish you could change about the art scene and one thing you like about it:
The scene is super small and underdeveloped. There are a ton of talented kids who only feel important when they make money off of their talent. If they see an absence of cash they end up quitting. But you shouldn't be doing your best work for money. A day job can offer that exchange of time for money. You should work to complete something in your life. That being said, I love that the art scene will nurture those artists who put in that hard work.
