Is it just us, or are announcements getting progressively worse every year? Maybe we’re getting old. Is this what getting old feels like?

Look at us all, it’s only the beginning of the year and we’re already knee-deep in festival announcement season! Isn’t it exciting, reading posters with terrible font choices and pinning for the unobtainable when the realization of ticket prices sets in? We think so; and while we always like to see who’s going where at what times, there’s always that inevitable “awww” when lineups are revealed.

Is it just us, or are they getting progressively worse every year? Maybe we’re getting old. Is this what getting old feels like?

But here’s one for you. Bonnaroo —the eclectic festival of the right side of the country that calls Tennessee its stomping grounds — is releasing the lineup a little different this year. Apparently (and this is how we understand it to be), tomorrow on Jan 13, people all over the world will call in to a specific phone line and receive a name of one artist/band from the bill. They then share it on social media sites at a specific time. The idea is to get the masses to unveil the lineup for them.

It’s like a circle-jerk of the mundane and quite possibly one of the most confusing things we’ve ever witnessed today. But if it works it works, right?

So as not to allow their fans to sift through fake names and troll accounts, Bonnaroo says it will be posting the official names as they come through on its site throughout the day.

They can’t all be winners.
