Apparently this isn't the first time this has happened, either …

It'd be too hard to make this kind of brilliant story up. Real life is stranger than fiction, as they say …

One Massachusetts woman has won the right to wear a colander on her head in her official Driver's License photo. Say what!? Claiming she's a part of the Church of Flying Spaghetti Monster, Lindsay Miller filed an appeal with the help of the American Humanist Association's Appignani Humanist Legal Center to allow her "Pastafarian" roots be exempt from the state's rule against wearing hats in license photos, except in the case of religious exemption. Well, she won. And, wow.

"As a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, I feel delighted that my Pastafarianism has been respected by the Massachusetts RMV,” Miller said in a press release from the American Humanist Association. “While I don’t think the government can involve itself in matters of religion, I do hope this decision encourages my fellow Pastafarian Atheists to come out and express themselves as I have.”

What could be more strange? Apparently this isn't the first time this has happened
