If you like your bass heavy and your vibe even heavier, Blunts & Blondes is bringing the sermon to Frisco as part of the 2025 Season Meltdown Party at 10 Mile Music Hall on Saturday, May 10. Hosted by KEEF, the annual mountain-town blowout is a celebration of winter’s end and the sun-soaked months ahead—a night of music, movement, and community set against the peaks of Summit County.
Blunts & Blondes, aka Michael Guard, has made a name for himself with a style that’s anything but cookie-cutter. Blending ferocious dubstep with deep-cut hip-hop and a dose of Rastafarian flavor, he’s carved out a lane of his own on the North American festival circuit. His sets hit hard, his fans go harder, and his sound is a rollercoaster of bass-fueled chaos and cathartic release.
This spring, he’s been riding a new wave of momentum. On March 28, he dropped his latest EP, ‘They Shot To Kill’, via his independent label Grove Records—a collection that doubles down on his gritty, genre-defying vision and showcases the raw edge that’s defined his comeback. The EP marks a bold new chapter, packed with unfiltered emotion and enough low-end firepower to rattle your ribcage.
With recent shows focused on connection and live energy, this next stop in Frisco promises wall-to-wall bangers, unreleased heaters, and that unhinged Blunts & Blondes energy fans have come to crave. The night also features a lineup of local DJs and producers who’ve earned deep love in the Summit County scene, laying the groundwork for a high-altitude night of nonstop dancefloor action.
Tickets are still up for grabs but don’t expect them to last long. If you’re ready to melt down the dancefloor and welcome summer with a full-body bass baptism, you know where to be. We had the chance to speak with Blunts & Blondes ahead of his upcoming show. Check out our conversation below!
[Rooster]: You’ve had a big year so far with the launch of Grove Records. What inspired you to start your own label, and what do you hope to build with it?
[Blunts & Blondes]: Thank you! Its been a ton of work but really fulfilling as well. I wanted to create a label that gave artists a place to grow as well as succeed. Alot of the times with bigger labels the smaller artists get looked over alot. I wanted to create a label where we give each of our artists equal attention as well as access to the same resources as the big labels. Im very excited to be able to help other artists experience the same success as I did.
Your sets have always pulled from a lot of different influences — dubstep, hip-hop, reggae vibes. How would you describe the sound you’re bringing into this new era of Blunts & Blondes?
Well ive always enjoyed rap and hip hop music. I just grew up with it around me and loved it. There is so many sub-genres within rap and hip hop its easy to get lost and get inspired by so many types of vibes with it. With the new music im making im trying to push bass music and rap music together harder. Ive tried to mesh the vibes in my music since ive started/ but im really trying to find a perfect balance between the two.
10 Mile Music Hall is such a unique mountain venue. How does playing in Colorado — especially places like Frisco — hit different for you?
One of the best parts about touring different places is taking the time to take in the sights. Ive played in Colorado alot but every time i come back it feels like a special show. Taking a moment and realizing im on a mountain playing dubstep is pretty crazy to me. Colorado is such a unique vibe and its always a pleasure going there.
If you could throw a dream b2b with any artist right now — no rules, dead or alive — who’s hopping on stage with you?
A dream b2b…. If i could get Phil Collins/ Hilary Duff/ Kodak Black and whoever wrote “ill make a man out of you” from the movie Mulan— I think we could plan a CRAZY show. I would love to do that.
When you’re not working on music, what’s something you’re usually doing to recharge?
When im not makin beats i like to spend time doing a couple things. I play disc golf. I enjoy going to the local card shop and playing TCG tournaments. I am an avid and proud gamer. After every studio session you can probably find me playing Tarkov. I also recently got back into paintball. I tend to obsess over my hobbies so having a couple different things to do is nice for me.
Looking ahead, what’s one thing you’re most excited for fans to experience in this next chapter of Blunts & Blondes?
When i was touring alot/ i didnt really have the time to make alot of music. I feel like my time off has made feel a new type of inspiration. I feel excited about the new music im making. Im trying new things and feeling comfortable in the studio. Im working with talented friends. Everything is coming together perfectly. So really what im most excited for the fans to experience is really a new me. I feel like ive grown so much and im ready to push forward with gratitude. Im really trying to show my fans a new and improved Blunts.
