So, where does this depressing realization leave you?

Although an obese body of research has shown that more sex leads to greater confidence and life satisfaction, a new study by Carnegie Mellon University has found that when couples consciously make an effort to fuck more, it actually makes makes them less happy.

… Dear god that's the worst thing I've ever heard.

As it turns out, the happiness-boosting effect of sex only holds true when there’s no pressure to get it on. However, the couples involved in the study were facing tons of pressure; they were required to increase their frequency of boning, so they weren’t so much DTF more as they were obligated to in the name of science.

So, where does this depressing realization leave you?

“Instead of focusing on increasing sexual frequency to the levels they experienced at the beginning of a relationship, couples may want to work on creating an environment that sparks their desire and makes the sex that they do have even more fun," says the study’s lead researcher Tamar Krishnamurti.
