By now you’ve heard that the Riot Fest wasn’t able to contain itself just simply rocking its native Chicago area. They’ve extended the festival to two more cities, Denver included, in a move that surprised many as the now saturated industry of festivals has bred more than one disaster (read: Kanrocksas) and still maintains itself to be a sketchy platform for would-be mega-promoters. Regardless, the punk-heavy getaway has promised to roll through Denver (or more specifically Byers) for a weekend full of circus themed intemperance on September 21 and 22.

Recently, Riot Fest took to their social media platforms to release the anticipated line-up for the Denver appearance. The menu looks to be an old-school punkers dream and is graciously peppered with some less heavy, though still rockable influence. Powerhouse punk legends like Rancid, Bad Religion and AFI are just a few which sit in support of Blink 182 and one of the irrefutable badasses of rock, Iggy Pop, with his band, Iggy and The Stooges. Until now, the ultra-secret main headliner was kept under wraps and for good reason. The Replacements haven’t played a show in more than 20 years and their bio reads about just as any rock legends should. This is music history; and we get to be a part of it.

Tickets are quickly selling out and if Denver’s history of festivals is any indication as to the longevity of this sweet festivity, it’d be better to grab them now than to sulk in a few years on “what-could-have-beens.” Stick with the Rooster all summer long to get your Riot Fest Fix with band interviews, special announcements and opportunities to win tickets.
