The annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is in its 74th year come this August and will continue to stand as one of the largest two-wheeled hootenannies in the world. It’s an event with a historical and illustrious past and still carries a bit of the “outlaw” label it came to infamy with. In The Whale – one of our local music favorites – is vying for a chance to perform at the rally and is going against a bevy of national acts. The contest is at the tail end of voting this weekend, so the duo is asking for help to advance.

Late last year The Rooster featured In The Whale in the December 2013 issue alongside the electronic behemoth Tiësto. Around that time the duo were releasing the first EP in a series of two. “Nate” and “Eric” are now both released and continue to support the frenetic outfit in its quest for harder rock notoriety. They’ve also spent better parts of this year touring the states opening up for iconic acts including Slash, Rev Horton Heat and Fu Manchu.

Voters can cast their ballots up to five times each day. As a special bonus they get even more points thrown on to its total by using the added links for social media sharing or listening to music tracks on the page. As of press time the band is currently in 8th place, and the top 10 bands advance. Vote HERE, vote now, vote In The Whale.
