Pakistani police are making an effort to stop crime before it starts … or, in this case, before it starts walking. A nine-month-old baby was arrested for attempted murder in Pakistan, which we thought was ridiculous unti we remembered seeing the 1999 classic "Baby Geniuses." Only then did we realize that a lot more goes on below those little fontanelles than we previously thought:

The baby, Muhammad Mosa Khan, was one of 30 people accused and tried of "attempting to murder security officers at a state-run gas company by throwing stones at them." The offending infant, who isn't even bipedal yet, appreared in court this week, sitting on his father's lap, suckling a feeder. When they read the charges filed against him, he responded by gurgling adorably.

The child's father said police had registered a fake case against him, his son, and the others. They were actually protesting the non-availability of gas in their area, not trying to steal gas.

When reached for comment about the controversy, the baby said "Bbbbhhhhaaaafffgggguurrrh," and nothing else.

He has been given bail and his case has been adjourned until April 12. However, the superintendant who filed the charges against the little bundle of joy has since been fired. We just hope that Muhammed can serve out his sentence on house arrest, because lord knows we don't need another cry baby in jail:
