Tragedy, psychological trauma and rehabilitation are normally a recipe for laying low and staying out of the public eye. But for the first victim of Jerry Sandusky, this is not the case.
Tragedy, psychological trauma and rehabilitation are normally a recipe for laying low and staying out of the public eye. But for the first victim of Jerry Sandusky, this is not the case.
This October, “Victim 1”, a book documenting the victim’s encounters with Jerry Sandusky will hit shelves. The book itself isn’t as alarming to us as is the growing trend of people selling their dignity, privacy and oaths for a book deal and a quick buck. From Jose Conseco to the marine who killed Osama Bin Laden all the way to Tyler Hamilton who outed Lance Armstrong, individuals opt to make money at all costs. Even if that means violating the trust of those close to them. In this case, a kid who was molested by an older man writes a book less than a year later. Did we mention the title is “Victim 1”? Did we also mention its release coincides with Sandusky’s sentencing? Oh yeah, did we also mention the kid is scheduled to do an ABC interview the same day – his first appearance in public? Coincidence? We think not and for everyone’s need to make a quick buck off of everything without weighing the consequences we give a giant thumbs down.
