Each month, we set two daters up at a restaurant, give them free food and drinks, then wait for the magic to happen. This month’s Blind Date, we set Noah and Nicole up for a special night at Orchid in Denver, Colorado.

Meet The Daters:

Noah

Elementary School Teacher

Why are you going on a Rooster Blind Date?  My buddy, Troy, went on one and it seemed like a good time.

What do you do for fun?  I like to play a lot of games, sports, hang out with my friends, skateboarding, snowboarding stuff.

What are you best at? Making long lasting friendships. My oldest friendship is from when I was 4 years old. I just bowled with him yesterday.

What do you suck at? I’m pretty bad at video games.

Do you sing in the shower? Yeah, there’s a lot of Kid Cudi humming.

What are you most grateful for? My living family and friends. And my three dogs. All Golden Retrievers. But one of them is not mine. You have to put three because the other one might get jealous.

Do you want kids? Eventually. Two. One boy, one girl.

Nicole

Business Owner

Why are you going on a Rooster Blind Date?  I was in a tattoo shop with my friend. I just moved here three months ago and she was like you have to read the Blind Date section. I read it and thought it was hilarious and she applied for me right there. I told her if I did this, she’d have to come but she’s stuck in traffic right now.

What do you do for fun?  Travel, concerts, bars, working out, festivals, and friends.

What are you best at? Being my own boss. I’m really good at talking to people. I could talk to a wall.

What do you suck at? Interviews!

Do you sing in the shower? Yes. It changes based on my mood.

Do you want kids? Yes. Two or three.

Immediate red flags: A lack of confidence. No ambition. Doesn’t like to travel. Negativity.

One thing you can’t live without: My laptop.

Round 1

It’s a rainy September evening in Denver and the smell of love is in the air. At the Orchid, live music sets the tone as the daters arrive not knowing what’s in store for tonight. Noah shows up in a button-down shirt, more on that later. Nicole arrives with an open mind although she has a concert to attend later. After the daters get settled, we pull them apart to see how things are going.

How’s it going so far?

Noah: I think it’s going pretty well. We have very similar birthdays.

Nicole: He’s really easy to talk to. He’s also an Aquarius; we’re very chill people. We don’t have a lot in common, but he’s a nice guy.

What’s the strangest dating story you have?

Noah: Oh god. I met this girl on Tinder. She asked me if I had multiple personality disorder because I had referred to myself as a lot of different characters.

Nicole: I was catfished. I’m still unsure whether it was him or a really old photo of him. He asked if I was pregaming before and I felt like he wanted me to be drunk which was really weird.

What are you most nervous about for tonight?

Noah: If the gnocchi is going to be delicious. Is it weird that my date and I got the same thing?

Nicole: I wasn’t really nervous at all. I was more nervous about finding parking.

Did you get any advice for this date?

Noah: Not really, but probably not to start eating the mushrooms too early.

Nicole: They said not to butcher the date. They are more concerned with the interview.

How did you prepare for the date?

Noah: I was on my way over here and I stopped at 7-Eleven and bought two gas station boner pills and dry swallowed them. I really did that. Two of them. No water. They are big. My dick feels solid.

Nicole: I didn’t prepare at all. My mind was on the concert I’m going to after this.

How did your date dress tonight?

Noah: Very chic.

Nicole: He dressed well in a button-down but I’m not a button-down kind of gal. I would have preferred a t-shirt and nice pants. I like street style clothing.

What were your first impressions of your date?

Noah: She was dressed very nicely. She seemed a little tiny bit nervous. She was playing with her fingers a little bit.

Nicole: My first impression is that he is very kind and I feel very comfortable around him.

Is this the type of person you’d normally date?

Noah: I don’t see why not, but I don’t know.

Nicole: I think style wise no, and he doesn’t like traveling. He doesn’t like my type of music, but he does have a lot of friends, which I do too so I feel like he’s social like I am. Other than that, I don’t see us doing much on the weekends.

Round 2

Well, the positive from round one is they both like gnocchi. The negative? She doesn’t like his shirt, he hasn’t looked at her shoes and she’s not sure what they would do on the weekends should they fall in love. Where it goes from here, we aren’t sure. We let them snarf their gnocchis and enjoy the live music. After we finish our gnocchi, we pull them aside to see how the gnocchi tasted. Did we mention the gnocchi?

How’s it going?

Noah: Rock hard! Just kidding. I think it’s going well. We’re having a nice conversation.

Nicole: It’s going well. He’s really easy to talk to. I feel like we’re different in a lot of ways. It’s interesting to talk to someone who’s very different from me.

What have you been talking about?

Noah: We’re talking about our crushes, people, appropriate places of meeting a suiter: Not the gym; Coffee houses are good I guess; Bar could maybe be a good place to meet someone.

Nicole: We figured out that we were born a day apart. We both have a lot of friends. We’ve talked about where we’ve lived.  He lived in Mexico.

Do you two have anything in common?

Noah: Besides our birthdays, we’re still trying to figure that out. She said that she likes to ski but she’s never gone camping before. That was kind of confusing to me. She says she can’t sleep in the dirt.

Nicole: Yes. We’re both Aquariuses.

What do you like about your date?

Noah: She seems like she knows what she wants. She’s a business owner so she’s got like real pussy power energy… or girl boss energy. Trying to stay PC for the magazine.

Nicole: I like how he just seems like a genuine down to earth person. I like that he’s very social.

What do you not like about your date?

Noah: She’s not interested in going to Mexico or South America. She says it’s too dangerous. And that’s where I love going, and it’s totally not dangerous.

Nicole: I don’t like that he doesn’t do much traveling and he doesn’t do many festivals. I love festivals.

What’s the most attractive thing about your date?

Noah: Probably that she’s her own boss. And that she’s an Aquarius.

Nicole: I would say he seems very sure of himself and he makes me very comfortable.

How would your parents feel about the dater?

Noah: My mom likes to host parties so she’s really good at entertaining. She probably wouldn’t tell me if she didn’t like her until the fifth time they met. She would probably fake it for the first couple of times. But yeah?

Nicole: I don’t know because my parents haven’t liked anybody that I’ve dated so…

What’s been the best part of the date so far?

Noah: The gnocchi was really good. Probably just the experience too. I’ve never done anything like this before and it’s fun to be a part of a magazine article.

Nicole: The gnocchi was great. This is another thing that we’ve both said yes to.

What could make the date better?

Noah: Probably bottomless Coors Lights.

Nicole: If we had more interest in each other. Our interests don’t align very much.

How’s the chemistry on a scale of 1-10?

Noah: A 7.

Nicole: Dating wise I’d give it a 1. Maybe 2. Maybe 3. Friends — I think he’d be a great friend.

Where would you like the night to go from here?

Noah: She’s going to a concert so I would probably like to go back to my local watering hole and play some foosball with my boys.

Nicole: I’m going to the Jai Wolf show. He doesn’t know who that is so I wouldn’t invite him. I don’t think he would like that kind of music based on concerts that he said he’s been to recently.

Will there be a good night hug, kiss or an exchange of numbers?

Noah: Potentially. It kind of depends on how she’s feeling, you know. Leave it up to the lady. I’m a gentleman.

Nicole: Maybe an exchange of numbers.

Round 3

If there’s one thing to learn from this date, it’s never pop two boner pills before meeting someone. On that note, Rooster heads out and checks in the next morning to see if the erection lasted longer than 4 hours.

How was Orchid Denver?

Noah: Awesome! The live music and food were amazing!

Nicole: Between the weed convention, club vibes, and the jazz band, I thought I was having a fever dream. The waiters were awesome. The margs were great!

What happened after Rooster left?

Noah: I got picked up by my buddy and we went to a restaurant I used to work at and had some Buffalo Bill cocktails.

Nicole: I had a concert after the date.

What was the best part of the date and why?

Noah: The experience of doing it and getting to hang out with the Rooster was a fun bonus.

Nicole: Knowing he was a normal guy because you never know nowadays.

Will there be a second date?

Noah: Probably not.

Nicole: We don’t seem like the perfect match based on interests so unfortunately no.

Any advice for future Blind Daters?

Noah: Don’t take the gas station pills! That was a long 13 hours.

Nicole: Go in with no expectations and be yourself.

Anything you want to end with?

Noah: I wonder what her Instagram account really is… Is it Feet Finder?

Nicole: I was more nervous for answering these questions than anything. But I appreciate the experience.

Conclusion

If there’s one thing we can all agree on, the Gnocchi & Burrata was the clear winner of the date.  Nicole wasn’t impressed enough to invite Noah to Jai Wolf, and Noah didn’t care to check out her shoes. Maybe we’ll have better luck next month.
